WHAT ARE BRAIN
ORGANOIDS?
1. Brain organoids are three-dimensional structures generated
from pluripotent stem cells, closely resembling the embryonic
human brain.
2.Brain organoids are good models to study human brain
development and brain-related diseases in vitro.
3.They are similar to the cell composition and anatomical
structure of the brain, and can reflect the developmental process
of the brain, as well as their physiology, pathology, and
pharmacology.

HOW ARE THEY
MADE?
Brain organoids are 3D tissue models derived from humaninduced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). When cultured
under defined conditions, hiPSCs differentiate into various
neural cell types that self-organise into layered structures
resembling specific brain regions such as the forebrain
(cerebrum) or midbrain.
Recent progress has enabled the culture of brain organoids
directly from patient-derived iPSCs or those engineered with
disease-relevant mutations using CRISPR technology
