Biography❯
Amir Timur was a Central Asian Turkic rule, military
commander, and officer who played an important role in the
history of Central, Southern and Western Asia, as wall as the
Caucasus, the Volga region, and Russia. As a military commander,
he was the founder of the Timurid Empire (1370) with its capital in
Samarqand.

❯Amir Timur was born on April 9, 1336, in the village of Khoja Ilgʻor
(Yakkabag) near Kesh (Shahrisabz) . According to legends, he was born
holding a clot of bright red blood in his hand and his hair was completely
white like that of and old man; a similar circumstance was also mentioned
regarding Genghis Khan. His father, Amir Muhammad Taraghay, was from
the Barlas clan of the Turkic lineage, possessed a unique reputation and
respect in Movarounnahr, and was among the influential elite. His ancestors
originated from the legendary Turkic Alan Quva genealogy, rose through the
ranks, and occuped a prestigious position among the dignitaries of the
Chagatay Ulus and the palase. The lands around Kesh and Nefes were
considered their property.

❯Timurʼs father, Taraghay, constantly participated in the kurultais (councils) of
the Chagatay beks, who were regularly summoned to the banks of the Ili
River, which was the domain of the khan. In 1355, he married Turmush Ogha
the daughter of the Barlas amir, Jakun.

Qazagʻon, the chief amir of Movarounnahr, became convinced of Amir
Timurʼs capabilities and, in that same year, betrothed his granddaughter,
Uljay Turkan Ogha, to him. By virtue of this marriage, an alliance was formed
between Qozagʻonʼs grandson, Amir Husayn, and Amir Timur. This alliance
proved highly beneficial in the struggle against the Moghuls. In 1356, Amir
Timurʼs two sons were born - Jahangir and Umar Shaykh.

unite separate lands into a single state. He made Samarkand the
capital of this state and quickly began building the cityʼs defensive
walls, citadels, and palaces.

Amir Timur subjugated and united the lands between the Amu
Darya and Syr Darya, as well as the Fergana and Shosh provinces,
and then began his conquests.

stretching from India and Ganges to the Syr Darya and Zarafshan, and from
the Tian Shan to the Bosphorus. He spent most of his life on military

to China.
