Meryl Streep (Mary Louise
Streep) was born on June 22,
1949, in Summit, New Jersey,
USA. She was passionate about
singing and dreamed of
becoming an opera singer. She
discovered acting in her school
years and finally chose this
profession while studying at
college.
She graduated from Vassar College
(1971, Bachelor of Arts in Drama),
then from the Yale School of Drama
(1975, Master of Fine Arts). She
moved to New York and began
performing on Broadway (from
1975). She made her film debut in
Julia (1977) and later starred in
The Deer Hunter (1978). She
quickly gained a reputation as a
versatile actress.
