What is Cambridge Flyers?
The Third Level
Cambridge Flyers is the third level of Cambridge English: Young
Learners exams. It's designed for children aged 10-12 who are
learning English!
A2 Level
Flyers is at A2 level on the Common European Framework. This
means you can understand and use everyday English!
Builds your confidence
Tests real English skills
No Pass or Fail!
Fun and friendly format
Don't worry - there's no pass or fail! You get 1 to 5 shields for each
skill. Even 1 shield means you're learning and improving!

Find the Differences
Part 1: Spot What's Different!
What You Do
Practice Example
The examiner shows you a picture and keeps a similar one. They describe their
picture, and you need to find 6 differences in your picture!
Examiner says:
Example:
"In my picture, there is a cake on the table."
"In my picture, the clock is square, but in your picture, the clock is round."
Types of Differences
You say:
"In your picture, there is a cake, but in my picture,
Quantity (1 vs 2)
Color (red vs blue)
Location (on vs under)
Appearance (long vs short)
Activities (run vs walk)
Shape/Size

Tip: Listen carefully and look at YOUR picture!

Part 2: Ask and Answer!
What You Do
First, the examiner asks YOU questions. Then, YOU ask the examiner questions! It's like
a fun conversation game!
Topics:
People, places, objects, time, age, appearance
Practice Time!
Types of Questions
Examiner asks:
"What is the girl's name?"
Wh- Questions:
What, Where, Who, When, How old, How many
Example: "What is Robert's favorite restaurant?"
You answer:
"Her name is Sarah."
Yes/No Questions:
Questions with "Is/Are/Has/Have"
Example: "Has Harry's teacher got a car?"
You ask:
"How old is the boy?"
Or Questions:
Questions with choices
Example: "Is the restaurant cheap or expensive?"
Examiner answers:
"He is ten years old."

Part 3: Tell a Story!
What You Do
Story Example
The examiner shows you 5 pictures that tell a story. They describe the
first picture and tell you the story title and character names. You
Story Title: "David's Birthday"
Character: David
describe the other 4 pictures!
Remember:
Examiner describes Picture 1:
You don't need to be a storyteller! Just say a few words about each picture.
"It's David's birthday. There is a big present for David."
The examiner will help if you need it!
You describe Picture 2:
"David is opening the present. He's excited!"
