The main holiday in China is Chinese New Year,

traditions that are notable for their vividness,
and researchers think it started being celebrated
during the Shang dynasty's (XVI-XIth centuries
BC) rule, which is the oldest Chinese dynasty.

The date of the celbration
The date of the celebration is not
fixed: it is timed to coincide with
the second new moon after the
winter solstice and is calculated
according to the lunar calendar.
In 2026, the Chinese New Year
will come on February 17th. The
holiday lasts for 15 days. It is a
time of joy and celebration,
marking the beginning of the new
year and the renewal of life.

Features of the celebratoin
On the first day they celebrate the New Year, and in
the next two weeks folk festivals are held in the cities.
At the same time, the official weekend in China lasts
only a week.

perform traditional rituals to welcome the new year.

Decorating houses with red decor — red color symbolizes happiness and

dumplings in the shape of a crescent moon,

with good luck, prosperity, and wealth. Red
envelopes with money are a traditional way to

during the holiday.

No watches are given on Chinese New Year, as it
is believed that this is a gift for unhappiness or
separation.
Red is considered an auspicious color in Chinese
