Birth of Led ZeppelinIn 1968 virtuos guitarist Jimmi Page needs musicians for a new band after
the disband of his last band “The Yardbirds”.
He recuits ace session musician Jonh Paul Jones, then a young
charismatic vocalist from the provinces - Robert Plant. Plant recomended
a talented drummer John “Bonzo” Bonham.
Initially called “The New Yardbirds”, a joking remark by The Who’s
(another band) drummer Keith Moon - that they would go down “like a
lead zeppelin” - gives them thier new name: Led Zeppelin.

Tragedy and Legacy24 September 1980: Jonh Bonham dies from alcohol

and excess.
