2. The United States of America (USA), often simply called America, is the world's largest economy and one of its most influential

countries. Located in North America, it
spans an area of about 9.8 million square kilometers and has a population of over 330
million people. The capital is Washington, D.C., while the largest city is New York with
its skyscrapers and Statue of Liberty. The USA is a federal republic consisting of 50
states and a federal district, renowned for its diversity, innovation, and role in global
politics. This nation embodies the idea of freedom but also faces internal contradictions.

3. The history of the USA began with European colonization in the 17th century. The British established 13 colonies, which

declared independence from Britain in 1776 with
the Declaration of Independence. The Civil War (1861–1865) between the North and
South led to the abolition of slavery. The 20th century brought participation in world wars,
the Cold War with the USSR, and leadership in democracy. Today, the USA is a
superpower led by a president, but its history is full of contradictions: from emigration and
immigration to the struggle for civil rights.
The USА economy is the world's most powerful, with a GDP exceeding $20 trillion. The
country leads in technology (Silicon Valley), finance (Wall Street), and agriculture (corn,
soybeans). Manufacturing includes automobiles (Detroit) and aerospace. The USA is a hub
of innovation but faces budget deficits and trade wars. Globalization strengthens the
dollar's role as a global currency.

4. American culture is a mosaic of many traditions. It is based on European roots, but African Americans (jazz, blues), Latinos,

and Asians have had a strong influence.
Hollywood and music (rock, hip-hop) have conquered the world. Literature includes Mark
Twain, Ernest Hemingway, and contemporary authors. Sports are a national passion:
basketball, baseball, American football, and hockey. Education is highly developed;
Harvard and Stanford are elite institutions. However, society is divided: issues of
racism, inequality, and immigration remain relevant.
