The "Black Death" is basically bubonic plague
caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis.

Bubonic form: high fever, chills, severe weakness, painful cramps.
The main sign is the appearance of "buboes": huge, swollen and
suppurating lymph nodes (in the groin, armpits, neck). Death
occurred within a week.
Pulmonary form: cough with bloody sputum, difficulty breathing.
Death occurred in 1-2 days.
Septic form: damage to the entire circulatory system, leading to
rapid death, often before other symptoms appear.
