School education in the UK
The UK education
system is a set of
educational
institutions.
Education in the UK is compulsory for
all citizens between the ages of 5 and
16. There are two education sectors
in the country: public (free education)
and private (paid educational
institutions, private schools).

Private education in the UK has
long-standing roots. Back in the
17th century, it was considered the
norm for girls to receive private
education at home. Later, English
society came to the conclusion that
socialization and collective learning
would be more beneficial for
children. The first boarding schools
were established at Catholic
churches.
Compulsory schooling includes
two levels – primary and
secondary. Young Britons start
their studies at the age of 5. In
Primary School, children study
until they reach the age of 11.
The next stage is secondary
school (Senior School).

Mixed schools: This is the
most common type of
school in the UK. Boys and
girls study together in
them. It is believed that
such training promotes
the development of social
skills, teaches interaction
and mutual understanding
between the sexes.

The most important difference
between the educational systems in
Russia and the UK is the attitude
towards the child's personality.
The Russian school is based on each student
achieving a certain uniform standard for all, while
the British school assumes maximum
consideration of the individual characteristics and
capabilities of each student.
