The aim:
to study homonyms of the English language and their recognition
Objectives:
- research homonyms of the English language and their classification;
- to test children on their knowledge of English homonyms
- implement the idea of creating cards with riddles that will help understand
the difference in the lexical meaning of homonyms

Homonyms are words that are similar in sound and/or spelling,but have different meanings.
Depending on the form, homonyms are divided into absolute
homonyms, homophones and homographs.
1. Absolute homonyms are
words that have the same
sound and spelling. They
belong to the same part of
speech.
For example:
а) Box [bɔks] – коробка
Box [bɔks] –
боксировать, бокс
b) Ruler [ˈruːlə(r)] – линейка
Ruler [ˈruːlə(r)]правитель
2. Homophones - phonetic
homonyms have the same
sound, but differ in
spelling.
For example:
а) Dear [dɪə] - дорогой
Deer [dɪə] – олень
b) Write [raɪt] – писать
Rite [raɪt] – обряд
Right [raɪt] – правый
3. Homographs are words
that are spelled the same but
pronounced differently.
These may include forms of
the same word.
For example:
a) Tear [tɪə] – слеза
Tear [tɛə] – рвать
b) Present [`preznt] –
подарок
Present [pri`zent ] представлять

ConclusionBased on the information received, we implemented the idea
of creating cards with words , pictures and riddles, which were useful
for children when taking a survey to distinguish pairs of homonymous
words.
Children can learn these words in game.
