Wheelchair dancing appeared in Great Britain at the end of 1960-s.

By the second part of 70s it spread in the whole Europe. In 1997 this sport appeared in Russia and Belorussia.
The First dancing Festival was in St. Petersburg in 1999. In 1998 wheelchair dancing as a kind of sport was
added to the list of International Paraolympics

The first Europe Championship was held in Sweden in 1997. And the first World
championship was held in Japan in 1998

Nowadays more than 5500 dancers take part in this kind of sport sis amateurs
and professional sportsmen

Combi wheelchair dancing is included into Paraolympic Games. Combi means combined that is
when the pair consists of the sportsman on the wheelchair and the sportsman without disability

The program includes classical dancing (waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep) and Latin-American
(samba, chachacha , rumba, pasodoble and jive)

The section of dancing on wheelchairs was opened in Ekaterinburg in 2023. Nikita
Ustjantsev from Ekaterinburg is a champion of dancing in this country

He was born with the spinal tumor but his love of art helped him to overcome
his disease and to become successful

gold and silver medals.
