In Sochi (Russia) from 7 to 16 March 2014. In games took part 610
athletes (including 63 athletes-leading) from 45 countries. The number
of countries represented and number of participants in these Games
was a record. In competitions on hockey sledge and Curling in
wheelchairs Russian Paralympians took part for the first time.
The sports delegation of Russia amounted to 197 people, of whom 67 athletes, 11
athletes leading the sport of the blind, 119 coaches, specialists, doctors, masseurs,
staff members of integrated scientific group, oilers, accompanying athletes with
severe disabilities, mechanics on repair of prostheses, etc. — this is the biggest
delegation of Russia for all history of participation of the national team in the
Paralympic winter games. The average age of athletes is 32 years. First 50 athletes
will participate in the Paralympic games. In the composition of the Paralympic
national team of Russia 18 honored masters of sport, 12 masters of international
class and seven Paralympic Champions.
