For the most part, international universities provide their graduates with such a
diploma. Thus, they become employable on a global scale, let alone their own
country, which is always a huge advantage. Since most people study at university to
find a well-paid job, such a qualification serves as a main appeal for many young
people to leave their country, I guess.

One-sided questions: Good answer structure

Sample answer:
Well, I would not say so. This is because, while studying abroad, a
student usually realizes that the way people live in a new country and
in their motherland greatly differs. As a result, a student can show
reluctance to return, once the university studies have been graduated
and start living in a foreign country permanently. Although from an
overall perspective it is good for a student as they can grow both in
personal and career terms, this situation can have a negative effect on
the country as there a phenomena known as BRAIN DRAIN occurs,
leaving the underdeveloped countries in their state.

Well, there can be enlisted a number of advantages such as gaining a
life experience, traveling abroad and others, but, in my opinion, the
prime one is AN INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED DIPLOMA as for the most
part, international universities provide their graduates with such a
diploma. Thus, they become employable on a global scale, let alone
their own country, which is always a huge advantage. Since most

Class practice: Authentic questions from real
exams:
1) What occasions should people arrive early?
2) When do you think people should arrive on time?
3) Why do people need to be on time?
4) Do you think that doing nothing is a waste of time?
5) How significant is punctuality at work?
6) Can people of your country be considered punctual?

16.

Model by the instructor:
What occasions should people arrive early?
Well, there can be enlisted a number of them such as important
appointments, flights and others alike, but I believe, one of the most
common one is exams. This is because, it is not a secret that a person
tends to be worried and overthinking while taking an exam, which, in
turn, can have its effect on the overall result. Thus, in order, to have
enough time to, at least, calm down, people are advised to come
earlier.

17.

Model by the instructor:
When do you think people should arrive on time?
In my opinion, it is necessary to be just in time when there is a business
appointment. This is because, by coming earlier, a person can give a
message that they are in desperate need for this or that agreement,
which notably, is not welcomed by many businessmen. However, the
opposite can serve as a sign of irresponsibility, which is unacceptable
for people in the world of business, let alone the fact that being late
can simply show disrespect towards another party.

18.

Model by the instructor:
Why do people need to be on time?
I believe, punctuality is nothing but only a quality highlighting how well
mannered a person is. To be more specific, by coming on time, one can
show that they appreciate the time of a waiting person. Moreover,
punctuality can serve as a proof that a person possessing this quality is
responsible. In brief, the desire of being always on time is a sign that
exhibits its owner from the positive perspective.

19.

Model by the instructor:
Do you think that doing nothing is a waste of time?
Admittedly, it depends on what people’s perception is regarding doing
nothing. To me, if doing nothing is related to having a rest, it is not just
time in vain. This is because, while a person is resting, which is an
inseparable feature of any person, they can be passively preparing for
further activities. In other words, having a rest by doing nothing is
crucial since it helps a person to recharge their batteries, which, in
turn, can help a person to be even more productive.

20.

Model by the instructor:
How significant is punctuality at work?
I think, it absolutely crucial. On the one hand, if a worker is punctual,
he or she can serve as a role model for their colleagues, ultimately,
increasing the work productivity. This is because, everybody at work is
highly likely to follow this frame. However, in case if a person lacks
punctuality, this can have its adverse effects on others around,
instigation their coming late too. Thus, I believe, having such a quality
like punctuality is no less important than having other professional
qualities.

21.

Model by the instructor:
Can people of your country be considered punctual?
No matter how strongly I wanted to say yes, I cannot say so. This is
because, being late has already become an indispensable part of
personality of most people in my country. It is, literally, in our genes to
come late to any sorts of events and meetings. Admittedly, people have
already got so used to this fact that whenever someone is invited, a
host writes the actual start time at least 30 minutes earlier so that
nobody came late.
