The amazing and extraordinary city of London is the huge
heart of Great Britain, the largest state in Europe, and its
undisputed leader among such a large population
(approximately 8 million people live in the capital of the
Kingdom). This is not only a favorite place for tourists, but also a
city of world significance, a financial center that dictates the
laws of economics, politics, business, culture and even fashion.

Palace
Buckingham Palace is the
official London residence of
British monarchs. The
palace is guarded by the
Court Division, consisting of
a regiment of Guards
infantry and the Royal Horse
Guards. Every day at 11:30
from April to August (every

the changing of the guard
ceremony takes place.

Palace of
Westminster
The Palace of Westminster has been
the home of the British government
for over 900 years. After the fire on
October 16, 1834, the palace was
rebuilt. The building covers an area
of eight hectares and consists of
1,100 rooms, 100 staircases and 11
courtyards. The best view is from
nearby Parliament Square.
Parliament houses Westminster Hall,
the underground church, and
members of parliament.

Big Ben
Big Ben is London's most
recognizable landmark. In
general, Big Ben is the name of
the largest bell on the clock
located in the northern part of the
Palace of Westminster in London.
This is part of the architectural
complex of the Palace of
Westminster. The official name is
“Clock Tower of the Palace of
Westminster”, it is also called “St.
Stephen’s Tower”. Big Ben is the
largest four-sided clock with bells
and the third tallest clock tower in
the world. In May 2009, the clock
celebrated its 150th anniversary
(the clock was first wound on May
31) with numerous ceremonial
events.

Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is a
drawbridge in central
London over the River
Thames, close to the
Tower of London. It is one
of the symbols of Britain
and the most famous
bridge in the world.
Designed by Sir Horace
Jones and opened in
1894. Equipped with a
special lifting mechanism.
The bridge offers beautiful
views of the Tower of
London and the Thames.

Trafalgar
Square
Trafalgar Square was built in honor of
the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, as a
result of which England achieved
naval supremacy over France. In the
center of the square is an 18-foot
statue of Trafalgar's hero Admiral
Nelson on a column at the base of
which are the famous Landser lions.
Trafalgar Square is a traditional place
for rallies, demonstrations, and public
holidays - for example, Chinese New
Year and Russian Old New Year. On
May 8, 1945, Churchill announced
victory in World War II to Londoners
gathered in the square.

Circus
Piccadilly Circus is the
main square of London
at the junction of five
streets. The main
attractions of Piccadilly
Circus are the huge

and the statue of the
Angel of Christian
Charity, better known as
Eros.

Shakespeare's
Globe Theater
Shakespeare's Globe Theater is
London's most famous theater in
the world. The modern
reconstructed theater opened in
1997. The theater is located 200
meters from the original building,
built in 1599 with funds from the
Lord Chamberlain’s Men troupe
of actors, to which Shakespeare
himself belonged. Performances
are shown every summer (from
May to October).

National Art
Gallery
The National Art Gallery houses a
collection of more than 2,000
examples of Western European
painting from the 13th to early
20th centuries. Among the authors
are Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli,
Bellini, Michelangelo and many
others. The National Art Gallery
was founded by King George IV,
who requested that the
government acquire a collection
of 38 paintings, including six by
Hogarth.

Tussauds
museum
Madame Tussauds is a wax museum with
branches in Amsterdam, Las Vegas,
Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles, Hong
Kong and Berlin. Founded by sculptor Marie
Tussaud in 1835. In 1777, Marie Tussaud created
her first wax figure of Voltaire, followed by JeanJacques Rousseau and Benjamin Franklin. The
collection expanded with death masks during
the French Revolution: Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette are placed next to the ax that
decapitated them. One of the central parts of
the museum is the Cabinet of Horrors. Part of the
exhibition included victims of the French
Revolution, figures of murderers and other
criminals. Over time, the collection was
replenished with figures of other famous people,
such as Admiral Nelson, Walter Scott.

London Eye
The Eye of London, or as it is also called the
Millennium Wheel, is a giant Ferris wheel installed
in London on the banks of the Thames. The
height of the wheel is 135 meters.
The wheel is equipped with 32 egg-shaped
passenger capsules, corresponding to the
number of areas that make up Greater London.
Each capsule can accommodate up to 25
people. The capsules are completely enclosed,
so passengers can either sit or walk freely around
the cabin while traveling. A turnaround takes
approximately 45 minutes.
The Eye of London has become a symbol of the
city and also gives its visitors a rare opportunity to
admire the entire city from a bird's eye view. At
dusk the lights turn on and the Eye of London is
an unforgettable sight.

British museum
The British Museum is the main
historical and archaeological
museum in Great Britain and one
of the largest museums in the
world. The museum stores works
of art of Ancient Egypt,
Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece,
Ancient Rome, products of
medieval masters of Europe and
Asia, collections of coins and
medals, drawings, engravings,
ethnographic collections.
Greece and Egypt, from which
ancient monuments were
removed, still demand their
return.

Dungeon
The London Dungeon is not so
much a museum as it is an
eerie reenactment of the
dark pages of European
history. Located in a
basement near London
Bridge, it is a kind of horror
house for adults. She has
received awards in the field
