Biography
Matisse is French. He lived and worked in
Paris.When Matisse was 21 years old, he
went to the hospital, he had to stay there
for two months. So that he would not be
bored, his mother brought him painting
supplies. This is how Matisse first began
to draw. This interested him so much that
he began to prepare for the exams at the
School of Fine Arts.

Education
Before Matisse decided to become
an artist, he studied at the School of
Law Sciences. When he became
interested in art, he left the practice of
law and returned to Paris, where he
entered the Julian Academy, to
prepare for the exams at the Paris
School of Fine Arts, but they didn't
take him there. Then he moved to the
school of decorative arts and was
able to enroll in the School of Fine
Arts.

Interests
Matisse was interested not only in painting,
but also in graphics, book design, sculpture
and clothes for performances.

Types of art
Matisse was the leader of the
Fauvism style. This style was
created by Gustave Moreau, a
professor at the School of Fine
Arts, where Matisse studied.
