The International Court of Justice was
established in 1945 as a result of the UN
Charter.

The ICJ is based in The Hague, Netherlands

Membership in the ICJ is open to all UN
member states, although only 65
countries are currently members.

The Court consists of 15 judges elected by the UN General
Assembly and the Security Council from a list of qualified
candidates nominated by the member states.

disputes arising from international
agreements or from the interpretation or
application of international law.
