Structure: how to organizethe elements of a problemsolution essay?
There are two main ways to
structure a problem-solution essay:
• “block” structure
• “chain” structure
10.
“Block” Structure• For the block structure, all
of the problems are listed
first, and all of the
solutions are listed
afterwards.
11.
12.
“Chain” Structure• For the chain structure, each problem is
followed immediately by at least 2
solutions to that problem and the
evaluation of each of the solutions.
• Evaluation may include arguments
against one solution, to be less effective
and by concluding in favour of the other.
