DECORATION (from Lat. decoro - decorate) is
a method of detecting point defects,
dislocations, growth stages, and other violations
of the ideal structure in crystals, consisting in
deposition on the crystal surface from the gas or
liquid phase or introduction into the crystal
volume by chemical means of substances
settling in the form of microparticles on defects
and thereby revealing them.

One of the decorating techniques is the "dew" method. If
you "breathe" on the fresh surface of the crystal, you can
see how vapor droplets condense along the steps, the
dimensions of which are sensitive to the size of the
surface. The condensation roller exceeds the thickness of
the steps. The drops evaporate quickly, so the picture
should be photographed immediately, but such
decoration can be repeated many times.The result of
decorating is influenced by a number of factors: time,
humidity, the condition of the decorated surface, the
nature of the decorating material.
