History of Remembrance day
Memorial Day was founded by
George Fifth in 1919. At first it was
called Armstice Day. The symbol of
the Remembrance Day is a red
poppy.

Traditions of celebrating
In the UK and its former colonies, one of
the most important traditions is a minute
of silence in memory of the victims. It
comes at 11 o'clock on the 11th
November.

Popularity
Nowadays, Day of Remembrance is
celebrated in a lot of countries:
Australia, Barbados, UK, Canada, etc.

Remembrance day in Russia
On the 11th of November, memorial
services are held in the Church of All
Saints in Vsekhsvyatskoe for Russian
soldiers who died in the First World War
