Legendary "lorry"
Thanks the Gorky Automobile Plant the city was
called the Russian Detroit, and the GAZ-AA
car - was a licensed copy of the American Ford
model AA truck.The legendary "lorry" served
many military units in the terrible years of the
war. Since the beginning of the war, 71,398
lorries were produced in Gorky. It was the
"lorry" that became the symbol of the Road of
Life of besieged Leningrad.

La-5 fighters took part in the Battle of
Stalingrad. Every day, the Gorky residents
produced as many as 26 aircraft. Every fourth
fighter at the front was from our Gorky aircraft
plant. In 1943, the specialists of the aviation
plant developed and successfully applied a
method for restoring aircraft that had suffered
an accident, the repair of which had previously
been considered impossible.
