Seychelles is located in the Indian Ocean
about 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) east of
Kenya. It has 40 granitic and about 50
coralline island.The nation is made up of 115
tropical islandsThese islands are rocky, and
most havea narrow coastal strip and in
thecentere a range of hills rising as highas 914
meters (3,000 ft.).s.

5. SEYCHELLES FLAGS

The National and the new flag is made up of five
oblique bands of blue, yellow, red, white and
green (from left to right) representing a young
country moving into a new future. The colour
blue represents the sky and the sea that
surrounds the Seychelles. Yellow is for the sun
which gives light and life, red shows the people
and their determination to work for the future in
unity and love, while the white band represents
justice and harmony. The green is the symbole to
show the land and natural environment.

flavors. Seychelles food is prepared es food is
very rich prepared having a mixture of French
and Indian with hot condiments and spices
and usually their curries are very thick having
rice as the main course. The richness that is
an important part of Seychelles cuisine comes
from the coconut milk that is added in
generous amounts in most of their delicacies.

The people of Seychelles are known as
Seychellois. The Seychellois people are
a unique blend of Créole, Indian,
Chinese, French and British Bloods. They
lead a very simple life. The main
languages are French, English and
Creole. On first meeting, shaking
people who openly invite guests into
their hands is the customary form of
greeting. Seychellois are friendly
homes. It is a common gesture to
present a gift when visiting someones
home.

9. Important Monuments and Historic Buildings

The Bicentennial
monument was built in
1978 to commemorate the
200th anniversary of the
town of Victoria.
Probably one of the
noblest examples of Creole
architecture, this splendid
home is at Françis Rachel
street, directly opposite the
National Library building in
Victoria. Built late 1800,
now being used as a
jewelry boutique.
