Pisarevsky. The monument was
erected to Sergei Lazo, a red
commander, an outstanding military
and political figure during the Civil
War.

Stepan Osipovich Makarov is an
outstanding sailor, scientist and
citizen who made a significant
contribution to the development

8. MONUMENT TO THE EXPLORER OF THE FAR
EAST G. I. NEVELSKY
The monument to G. I. Nevelsky in
Vladivostok was opened on October
26, 1897 on Svetlanskaya Street.The
outstanding Russian sailorgeographer G. I. Nevelskoy
conducted large-scale studies of the
southern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk,
Sakhalin Island, the shores of the
Tatar Strait, and the lower reaches of
the Amur.
He proved the existence of a strait separating Sakhalin from the
mainland, the accessibility of the Amur for large ships, the
possibility of navigation between the Sea of Japan and the Sea of
Okhotsk.

The monument was inaugurated on July
2, 1985. Restoration work was carried
out in 2010: the destroyed and damaged
elements of the obelisk were restored.
The structure is a 12-meter titanium alloy
obelisk, reminiscent of a wind-blown sail
of a sea vessel. Two concrete stairs
descend from the level of the Ship
Embankment. Massive stylized anchors
made of concrete are installed on two
sides of the structure.

In front of the building of the Union of
Writers of Primorsky Krai on the street.
The bust of the first civilian resident of
Vladivostok, Yakov Lazarevich
Semyonov, was erected in Aleutskaya.
Arriving in Vladivostok from Nikolaevskon-Amur in 1860, the merchant lived here
for 42 years. He was elected the first
headman of Vladivostok, published
scientific works on the rules for the
extraction and preparation of algae, and
was also a well-known patron of art. The
monument was erected on July 1, 1995.

Granite statue of the Buddha of Peace and
Friendship between Russia and Japan. the
monument appeared in 1993, when it was handed
over to the Primorsky branch of the All-Russian
Fund "Russian Peace Fund". So the granite
Buddha appeared at the FEFU building on
Okeansky Prospekt. The opening took place in
2010, and the Japanese side expressed a desire to
complete this cultural project by building a
traditional Japanese roof over the statue.
The installation of the Buddha of Peace on the
territory of the university was another step
towards strengthening the friendship between
Japan and Russia

On July 3, 1997, a solemn opening
ceremony in Vladivostok of a
monument to the great Russian poet
A. S. Pushkin by the sculptor
E.Barsegov took place in Pushkin
Square.
During the construction of the
bridge across the Golden Horn,
Pushkin Square and the bust of
Pushkin were removed. However, in
1999, a monument to Pushkin by
Eduard Barsegov was unveiled on
Pushkinskaya Street. The
monument is located near the
Pushkin Theatre.
