Great scientists and their discoveries

2.

ARISTOTLE
Aristotle is considered the father
of meteorology. It is in his treatise
on celestial phenomena that the
term is first encountered.
Aristotle, like Eudoxus of Cnidus,
is ubiquitous and first mentioned
its spherical shape. His discoveries
in cosmology influenced science
until the 15th century. Aristotle
also owns the principle of creating
classifications that represent
objects so far.

3.

Without Aristotle, it is impossible to
imagine modern chemistry, which is
based on the classification of ancient
elements that he created. In the works
of Aristotle, ethical views are
especially prominent. And here he
also became a pioneer, introducing
the term "ethics". He defines the
moral virtues - generosity, courage,
truthfulness, justice.

4.

DMITRY MENDELEEV
He discovered the fundamental law
of natural science - the periodic law
of chemical elements (1869). The
system he discovered made it
possible to classify the existing ones
and predict the emergence of new
chemical elements and their
properties. The discovery is
recognized as the greatest event in
the history of materials science.

5.

In 1859, Mendeleev designed a
device for determining the density
of a liquid - a pycnometer.
In 1860, he discovered the
absolute boiling point of liquids the critical temperature at which
the density and pressure of
saturated vapor are maximum, and
the density of a liquid in dynamic
equilibrium with vapor is
minimum.

6.

MARIE CURIE
Marie Curie was awarded the Nobel
Prize in Physics (1903) and Chemistry
(1911). She became not only the first
woman to win the award, but also the
only woman to do so in two fields and
the only person to achieve it across
sciences. Its main field of research was
radioactivity - methods for isolating
radioactive isotopes and the discovery
of the elements polonium and radium.

7.

During World War I, Curie
opened the first radiology
center in France and also
developed a mobile field x-ray
that helped save the lives of
many soldiers. Unfortunately,
prolonged exposure to
radiation led to aplastic
anemia, from which Curie died
in 1934.

8.

GALILEO GALILEI
Galileo Galilei is best known
for his achievements in
astronomy. An Italian physicist,
astronomer, mathematician
and philosopher, he improved
the telescope and made
important astronomical
observations, among them the
confirmation of the phases of
Venus and the discovery of the
satellites of Jupiter.

9.

The frantic support of
heliocentrism became the
reason for the persecution
of the scientist, Galileo was
even subjected to house
arrest. During this time he
wrote The Two New
Sciences, for which he was
called the "Father of
Modern Physics".

10.

ISAAC NEWTON
Isaac Newton one of the fathers of
classical physics. He substantiated
the movement of the planets of the
solar system around the sun, as well
as the onset of ebbs and flows.
Newton created the foundation for
modern physical optics. The top of
his work is the well-known law of
universal gravitation.
