40.1 Imagine that you are doing a project on English knowledge in
Europe. You have collected some data on the subject — the results of
various polls (see the table below).
Comment on the data in the table and give your personal opinion on
the subject of the project.

— select and report 2−3 facts;
— make 1−2 comparisons where relevant;

1 абзац – вводный тезис общего характера по выбранной
теме с обозначением коммуникативной ситуации и целей
выполняемого проекта.

2 абзац – описание проведенной статистики с выделением
двух – трех черт;
3 абзац – одно-два сравнения в рамках выбранной темы;
4 абзац – постановка проблемы, которая может возникнуть
в исследуемой сфере, и возможные пути ее решения.

English is an international language and plays an important
role in many spheres of our life. The purpose of this report is

can be caused by the lack of knowledge of English and give a

problem. We can see that the people in Russia do not speak
English fluently. It means that they cannot help foreigners who
visit our country and have difficulties in understanding people
abroad. I suppose that in order to solve this problem we should
change the system of teaching English at schools. All school
children ought to have 5 lessons of English a week and take an
exam in English at the end of Years 9 and 11.
