Introduction• The call of the ancestors is a
novel by American writer Jack
London, published in 1903.
The story belongs to the early
works of Jack London. It is
often classified as children's
literature, since the main
character is a dog. However,
the maturity and depth of the
story's ideas makes it relevant
for adult readers as well. The
story deals with themes such
as survival of the fittest,
civilization and nature, fate,
free will, and partly violence,
especially against animals.
3.
The basic idea is that only the strongest and fittest can survive in the wild.Sometimes, to survive, you need to open up your ancient instincts. The story tells
about the difficulties experienced by the dog Buck, trying to survive, despite the
harsh treatment of the owners, the cruelty of dogs and the severity of nature. In the
end, he leaves people, goes wild and becomes the leader of a pack of wolves.
