3. Случаи применения инверсии

• 1. В вопросительных предложениях различных
типов, кроме вопросов к подлежащему.
• e.g.: How did he get there?
• 2. В конструкциях, начинающихся с There …. .
e.g.: There are many streets in this town. There
appeared smaller and smaller electronic circuits
performing complex electronic functions.
• 3. При повторении вспомогательного или
модального глагола в следующих
конструкциях:
• e.g.: “I’ve often been here. – So have I”.
• “They can speak English. – So can we”.
• “I haven’t seen this film. – Neither have I”.

4. Случаи применения инверсии

• 4. В конструкциях, начинающихся с наречий:
never, nowhere, barely, scarcely, rarely, only then,
seldom, little:
• e.g.: Never have I seen such a strange person!
• Little could we do in our research laboratory
without the aid of electricity.
• Seldom have I had so much responsibility. Etc.
• 5. В конструкциях: Hardly …….when… No sooner
……. than… .
• e.g.: Hardly had the transistor been developed
when other developments followed.
• No sooner had I read the text about electronics
and microelectronics than I realized what
integration was.

5. Случаи применения инверсии

• 6. После фраз, содержащих not/no: under no
circumstances, on no account, at no time, in no
way, on no condition, not until, not only… but
also:
• e.g.: On no condition are you to copy during the
test.
• Not until I got home did I realize that I had
forgotten the keys at work.
• Not only is this method more effective than that
one, but it is also more reliable.
• 7. В конструкциях So + Adjective + Verb …that…..
Such + Verb + Noun …...that…..
• e.g.: So strong was the force of the wind that the
trees were uprooted.
