Water scarcity

1.

2.

Water is very important
for life and everyone
should have access to
it. However, there is
not enough water for
everyone
in
some
places. This is called
water scarcity. We will
talk
about
what
causes water scarcity,
what happens when
there is not enough
water, and why it is
important
to
save
water.

3.

Population growth: When there are more
people, they need more water.
Urbanization: When people move to
cities, they often have trouble getting
water.
Climate change: Climate change is
making the weather change, which can
make it harder to get water. For example,
climate change can cause droughts,
which are long periods of time with very
little rain.
Unsustainable water practices: Farmers
and factories sometimes use too much
water. For example, farmers might use
too much water to irrigate their crops,
and factories might use too much water
to make their products.

4.

Health problems: Without clean water,
people can get sick. For example, they
can get waterborne diseases, which are
diseases that are spread through water.
Economic problems: Businesses need
water to operate, so when there is not
enough water, people can lose their
jobs. For example, farmers might not be
able to grow enough food if there is not
enough water to irrigate their crops.
Food shortages: Farmers need water to
grow food, so when there is not enough

5.

Using less water: We can take
shorter showers, fix leaky faucets,
and water our plants less often.
Helping farmers: Farmers can use
special techniques to grow food
with less water. For example,
they can use drip irrigation,
which is a method of watering
plants that uses less water than
traditional methods.
Helping factories: Factories can
use machines to clean water
and use it again. This is called
water recycling.
