The most favorable age for speech therapy work

1.

2.

It is best to teach proper speech and overcome its
shortcomings at preschool age. This is facilitated by the
following features of a preschooler.
1. High plasticity of the brain, i.e. the ability to quickly
and easily switch to new circuits and also overcome the
consequences of their violations. This explains the
increased imitation of adult speech in children and the
easily occurring alteration of speech sounds. The
flexibility of the child's brain lays the foundations for
overcoming the imperfections of a child's speech
through pedagogical influence (exercises, repetitions;
however, it is necessary to take into account the rapid
fatigue of young children).

3.

2. The ability to turn everything into a game. Children
willingly play different games using speech and thus
achieve faster success in it.
3. Children's love for the sounds of speech and the desire
to master them. Children play with sounds,
mechanically repeat them many times. They realize
phonetic norms early and try to master them (A.N.
Gvozdev).

4.

Children love classes to improve their speech,
especially on the purity of pronunciation, show great
interest and perseverance, watch each other, suggest
sounds to each other or the required positions of the
tongue, lips. They willingly play with sounds, notice
the differences between them, memorize words,
nursery rhymes, rhymes. Having mastered the correct
pronunciation of a sound, children rejoice, are proud
of the victory, demonstrate a new sound in front of
others and wait for approval. They stop being shy and
become more sociable.

5.

Kolya R., 5 years old, having mastered the sound of sh,
noted (often at random) the shortcomings of this
sound in his comrades and tried to teach them.
Another boy, having mastered the sound of r with the
help of a tutor and his father, met his father with a
shout: "Dad, I can speak r!" and immediately
demonstrated this. The boy was in a joyful mood for
several days and showed everyone his achievement.

6.

The fragility of erroneous speech skills. Temporary
connections in the cerebral cortex have not been
strengthened and are therefore easily slowed down.

7.

So, in three- and four-year-old children, the relative
development of the brain in general, hearing and
speech motor apparatus, in particular, allows them to
master the correct pronunciation by the end of their
stay in kindergarten. The flexibility of the
kindergarten regime makes it possible to devote
enough time to this.
