irregular pyramid lined with
glass. The skyscraper includes
72 floors with offices,
apartments, front gardens
and technical rooms: Italian
architect Renzo Piano calls
his creation a "vertical city".

UNESCO has even
considered including the
Tower of London in the list of
World Heritage Sites in
danger. If each visitor to the
building pays 20 pounds for
admission, the construction of
the Shard will pay off in 10
years.
